After the Sino French Majiang Naval Battle, the military and civilians along the Minjiang River spontaneously organized the salvage of the martyrs' bodies and buried them in 9 graves nearby at the southeast foot of the Majiao Mountain along the river. In the ninth year of the Republic of China (1920), Commander in Chief Lan Jian ordered Chen Zhaoqiang, Director of the Foochow Arsenal, to rebuild the Zhaozhong Temple, and at the same time buried 9 graves and a group of martyrs' remains near the dock of the Foochow Arsenal. The tomb is built with granite strips and covered with cement soil, forming a rectangular shape. It is surrounded by stone columns and anchor chains. There is a granite stele pavilion in front of the tomb, and the stele inside the pavilion has two lines of regular script: "On the third day of July in the tenth year of the Guangxu reign, the bones of the soldiers in Majiang were buried.
